Michael DeWitt, owner of Red’s Barbecue, 316 Hillside Village (northeast corner of Mockingbird and Abrams) will be one of 30 chefs participating in the Nov. 11 “Star Chefs of Dallas” at the Anatole to benefit the March of Dimes. DeWitt is the only barbecue restaurateur selected for the event, which will include a cocktail reception, food tasting and live auction. As its donation, Red’s will cater a smoked barbecue buffet for 75 off-site. The participating chefs were chosen by Kent Rathbun, corporate chef for Seventeen Seventeen and chef George Brown, also of Seventeen Seventeen. For information about the benefit, call 972-669-3463.

The Brick Room, 1925 Skillman at Oram, no longer serves lunch. The new hours are 4 p.m.-close Sunday-Tuesday and Wednesday-Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. (the restaurant begins serving at 5 p.m.). MUSIC IN THE AFTERNOON…
Jazz lovers can get their fix without staying up all night by checking out the Sunday Afternoon Jazz Series from 2-5 p.m. at Galveston Island Seafood Restaurant, Skillman at Royal. Manager Dick Wisenbaker got the idea from growing up in Boston, where the afternoon shows offered an alternative for those who couldn’t get to the big clubs. Galveston’s has sponsored the shows every Sunday for almost 10 years.
