A Special Olympics competition scheduled for Thursday has been postponed because of temperatures expected to drop into the 40s.

The National Weather Service reports that a 30 percent chance of rain is possible Thursday morning with a high temperature of 49 degrees. The low is expected to be 41 degrees.

Several East Dallas schools were expected to participate. The schools include: Hexter Elementary School, Bryan Adams High School, Robert T. Hill Middle School, J.L. Long Middle School, W.H. Gaston Middle School, Harold W. Lang Sr. Middle School, Bayles Elementary School and Edwin J. Kiest Elementary School.

The track and field meet at Wilmer-Hutchins Field at Thomas J. Rusk Middle School will be rescheduled for March 7.
