Taking place at the SoPac Respite Area — between the SoPac Trail and Fisher Road — the planting is a “bring your own shovel and gloves” event, according to their newsletter.

The tree planting comes after the organization’s recent improvements to the trail, including an irrigation system in preparation for the planting of seven new oak trees — something they attribute to their North Texas Giving Day donations.

The event, in partnership with the Texas tree Foundation and Dallas Parks and Recreation, will result in two chinquapin oaks, two monterrey oaks, two shumard oaks and one bur oak tree being added to the trail.

Kids and families are welcome to participate.
