Dallas-born sisters Alexandria Liles and Taylor Darnell-Sibal are bringing this project to life on Dec. 3. Slam Club will offer “wrestling-inspired fitness and USA Club Card-certified elite wrestling programs” for all — beginners, families and enthusiasts — according to a press release.

“Slam Club’s mission is to combine innovative fitness programming with the timeless discipline of wrestling, making the sport approachable, accessible and relevant for a new generation,” reads the press release. “During the day, the space delivers dynamic group classes that incorporate wrestling movements such as conditioning drills, balance work and Bulgarian Bag training to build core strength, rotational power and athletic performance — without requiring prior wrestling experience. In the evenings, the studio transforms into a USA Club Card-certified wrestling club led by 27-time All-American, four-time undefeated Texas State Champion, five-time world athlete for Team USA and U.S. Army athlete and veteran Alexandria Liles. The club will offer elite coaching for youth, teens and competitive wrestlers preparing for local, national and international tournaments.”

Aside from the workouts and coaching, those who visit Slam Club can look forward to the following amenities and “recovery therapies”: a sauna, cold plunge, stretching zones, meditation spaces, social club areas and premium body care brands.

“Slam Club isn’t just a gym for our members — it will be a movement space, a recovery space, and a place where people feel connected,” Liles and Darnell-Sibal said in a press release. “We chose Deep Ellum because it’s one of the only neighborhoods in Dallas where culture, creativity, accessibility and community meet in a real way. Being centered here makes Slam Club easily reachable no matter where you’re coming from in the city. Deep Ellum gives us the energy and diversity to build something that feels authentic and inclusive to the community.”

The 2,790-square-foot space was formerly the dance club Lazerz, which has been closed for years, according to the press release. Liles and Darnell-Sibal preserved the historic building’s stained glass window, and both are looking forward to joining the Deep Ellum neighborhood.

“We see Deep Ellum in a moment of transition, becoming something new — and wrestling is in that same evolution,” they said in the press release. “They’re both changing, both expanding and we wanted to build in a neighborhood that reflects that forward movement. We’re excited to activate with our neighbors through member perks, cross promotions and community events that support the district. Our goal is to become a true part of Deep Ellum, not sit on the outside of it.”

Slam Club’s general fitness memberships start at $89 per month while the drop-in rate is $30. Find more information at www.slam-club.com.
