loght-up-lw_can-turkyilmaztsc_3520_1050Get ready for the holiday season with the spirited Light Up Lakewood.  This Friday, Dec. 2, the Lakewood Neighborhood Association will be lighting up the Lakewood Shopping Center with an array of festive lights and decorations. Come out to hear choirs from local schools will also getting the chance to visit Santa, check out the petting zoos and much more. The event goes from 6p.m. until 8 p.m. but make sure you get there in time for the tree lighting at 7 p.m. 
Enjoy the hanging of the green this Sunday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. as well as parts of Handel’s Messiah brought to you by the Wilshire Baptist Church choir at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. This holiday tradition is one you can’t miss. 
This Friday night, Dec. 2, head on over to Lakewood United Methodist Church to enjoy a Christmas concert delivered by the church.  The event begins at 7 p.m. and is sure to get you ready for the holiday season. 
Love the classical opera? Check out First United Methodist Church this weekend.  The church will be hosting a Rotunda Theater production of Amahl and the Night Visitors on Dec. 3 and 4.  Both nights the performance will begin at 7 p.m. and is free of cost. 
Head on over to the Dallas Arboretum this weekend for a holiday market sale you don’t want to miss. The market will have tons of gifts and decorations to fill your needs this holiday season. The market is open Dec. 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Put on your poker face and join the Elk’s for their first-ever Sweetheart Poker Tournament on Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tournament has a $25 entry fee and takes place at the Dallas Elks Lodge, #71. Call Nick Raya at 214.597.3539 for more info.
Go back in time with the 9th annual Holiday Home Tour at the Alexandre Mansion of Dallas. The tours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Thursday and continuing until Sunday. You can also get lunch at the mansion before discovering more of the mansion that was built in 1904.
