Thanks to a one-year Defense Department grant of $31 million, YMCAs throughout the country will waive membership fees for qualifying military familes; the program was unveiled at the White Rock YMCA by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions. Eligible participants in the program include familes of deployed National Guard and Reserves, relocated spouses and family members of deployed active duty personnel, and other families associated with deployed personnel; if you’re eligible or know someone who might be, check the Armed Services YMCA and Department of Defense Outreach Initiative website for more information.
