When neighbors reported seeing SWAT team personnel near Mockingbird and Skillman on Monday, many feared the worst. But it’s part of a new strategy to prevent crime rather than respond to it.
According to Dallas Police, the SWAT team will conduct regular foot patrols and answer calls throughout the city a few times a week. The four-hour patrols are not in response to a certain incident. They are a way for officers to meet neighbors and business owners in those areas.
Dallas Police say they want to “provide another level of service to the citizens of Dallas.”
