Seattle's Best Coffee logoThe first of 20 or so standalone Seattle’s Best Coffee shops is expected to open in about two weeks on Skillman just north of Northwest Highway in the Timbercreek Shopping Center (Walmart, Sam’s and JCPenney). As far as I know, the other locations coming online are elsewhere in D/FW (check the end of this post for some photos of the Skillman location).

If you drive by the new shop, it stands out pretty well — the tiny building is bright red and is about the size of a typical sno-cone shop around here, meaning there’s no inside seating. Drive-thru and walk-up windows are available, and a guy onsite when I stopped by said there would be minimal outdoor seating, too. The concept was conceived in Seattle, but apparently it’s being rolled in Dallas, according to a Dallas Business Journal article.

I’m told Seattle’s Best tends to be a little downscale and a little less expensive than, say, Starbucks, which happens to own Seattle’s Best. This particular location is nestled among the many apartment complexes in the neighborhood, and it’s not exactly known for its walkability quotient, leading me to believe that most customers will be driving thru to get their drinks.

The website seems pretty standard for coffee places these days: “ethically” traded coffee, “optimum” flavor roasting, carefully blended taste, and the usual brewed, espresso, tea, coffee and iced/blended drinks. I don’t know anything about the pricing, though.
