The Diamond Anniversary Celebration and Auction for Stonewall Jackson Elementary School will be Friday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hotel Palomar. There will be dinner, dancing, cocktails and a live and silent auction. Today, May 6 is National Teacher Appreciation Day, and Chipotle Mexican Grill in Lakewood will celebrate educators from 4 p.m. to close. Educators and school staff on all levels (preschool, primary, middle/high school, university and homeschool) can present their valid educator or staff identification to receive a buy-one-get-one free burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos with the purchase of another menu item at the Lakewood location.
J. L. Long Middle School’s girls softball team won district, bi-district, and city championships. Also, Long’s 6th, 7th & 8th grades science team combined took second place at state competition.
