Bi-District Champs 2013 Trophy in the air group

  • The Woodrow Wilson wildcats football team won the Bi-District Football Championship last Friday with a 47-10 victory over Seagoville. This Friday they will be playing in the area round at Cowboys Stadium in Woodrow Wilson (10-1) vs. Mesquite Poteet (10-1). The game is Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at AT&T Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Tickets are $10 at the gate, $10 parking. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., no assigned seating. NBC5 Sports will be doing live remote broadcasts. Advance Tickets will be available outside the principal’s office in the Woodrow front hall starting on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 11:30 a.m.—1 p.m. through Friday. Students $6, adult $8.
  • “Welcome to Woodrow” will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the historic campus, celebrating its 85th anniversary. This introduction includes a brief overview of International Baccalaureate and the other college preparatory academies, Advanced Placement, dual credit, curriculum, club and organization representatives, tours of the school and refreshments. All current 8th graders and their families are encouraged to attend. Those seeking transfers from other attendance zones and districts are also invited. For more information, see the website.
  • Lakewood Elementary is hosting a book fair this week. It started yesterday and goes until Friday, Nov. 22. They’re looking for volunteers. And book lovers, of course.
  • Dine at Burger House (6248 E. Mockingbird Ln.) on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 p.m.—9 p.m. Tell them you are there to support J.L. Long Expectations Choir, and a percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Long choir.
  • Genghis Grill at 5500 Greenville is hosting a smilar event for Stonewall Jackson Elementary tonight, Nov. 19. You can dine in or take out from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Kids eat free on Tuesdays. Call 214.987.3330 for more details.
