  • Coming up in January, Friends of Lakewood is teaming up with the Dallas Stars for a fundraiser. Get your tickets now because tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. For $40 per ticket, purchase a seat in the lower level of the Dallas Stars vs. New York Islanders game on Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. Afterwards, don’t miss a photo op with the Lakewood group on the Stars’ bench. Purchase tickets through the Woodrow Foundation website. Select the “Friends of Lakewood Night at the Dallas Stars” drop down option, select the number of tickets and then donate the appropriate amount. Also, as incentive to pay more than $40 per ticket, the owners of the six highest selling tickets will have the opportunity to stand in the Stars’ High Five tunnel. “At the beginning of the game’s second period, you will greet each of the players with, you guessed it, a High-Five as they walk on to the ice,” the agenda says.
  • DISD parents, vote for school calendar options you prefer for the 2014-2015 school year in the school calendar survey.
