After neighborhood protests of a Sam’s Club in 2014 led to legal entanglements, Crow abandoned the “East Village” plans and the Sam’s in the space, but they now have a new plan. Dubbed Market Station, the new design includes smaller retail buildings, a parking garage and a 52,000-square-foot supermarket or entertainment venue.

Crow purchased the property in 2013, but was unable to finalize the rezoning it needed to be able to fit the larger Sam’s Club. The current plan is within the original zoning. Dallas’s O’Brien Architects, the outfit that designed Arboretum Village shopping center, also designed Market Station.
