While frantically keeping up with my many social media contacts and outlets the other day, I stumbled across this tidbit: former Woodrow Wilson High School principal Ruth Vail is now principal of Del Valle Middle School near Austin. Vail left Woodrow after the 2011 school year and was replaced by Kyle Richardson.
Using my LinkedIn business networking prowess, I sent Vail a note and asked for an update. Here’s what she sent me:
“Hi Rick!
“Busy times in Austin and on I-35. I have completed all my course work at UT, proposed my doctoral study and have been approved for Doctoral Candidacy. This summer, I will be working on my data collection with Houston ISD and hope to graduate in the Fall of 2012 or Spring 2013!! Definitely, before my daughter (WWW Class of 2014).
“I am presenting the study at the Texas Association of School Administrators this summer in Austin.
“I am very excited about my study, since the goal will be to help urban school districts identify effective strategies in the restructuring and renewal process of school turnaround.”
