Most recently, Blow Salon, currently at 2019 Abrams Road, is moving down the street to a new location at 5724 Abrams Road. The new salon is expected to be open in Sept. 2017.

According to Kert Platner, who co-owns the Lakewood business alongside Kyle Tatum and Warren Augustus, the move is due to a rise in rent when the building was purchased about eight months ago.

“The new landlords are changing the rent structure of the new building so we started looking at the numbers of it and it just didn’t make financial sense for us to stay there at those particular rent levels,” Platner says. “We just decided we needed to begin looking for a place to be and we love where we are but we can’t sustain ourselves at that level.”

The location of the new salon building is where a former Long John Silvers once stood. Platner noted the structure had been abandoned for some time and has since been demolished for what is expected to be a contemporary-looking salon.

“It’s going to be very, very modern, very mid-century, much more open and natural lighting,” Tatum says.

The building will also incorporate brick and stucco into the design, according to Platner.

Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year or January of 2017 with a completion date around June or July 2017.

Tatum pointed out the new building will only be seven minutes away from the current location meaning regular salon-goers don’t have to worry about finding a new place to get the hairstyle they want.
