Ralph Barbosa, self-proclaimed “shy attention hog,” is a rising young comedian who used to be a barber on Davis Street in Oak Cliff, according to his own recordings on Instagram and as we wrote about in June. That makes the fact that he sold out six shows this week and weekend at the Kessler Theater, which he says is directly across the street from the barbershop where he cut hair, pretty amazing.

It started with an announcement in early June that Netflix would be recording at his Kessler show, that happened earlier this week.

Barbosa immediately sold out the Aug. 3 and 4 dates at the neighborhood theater. He quickly added and sold out a third late-night show. Since then he added, and sold out, three more, the last two of which are tonight.

If you missed out on Barbosa this time around, there are at least two more opportunities we know of to see him this year — one is in East Dallas.

Hyenas Dallas, Mockingbird Station, has tickets for special events with Barbosa October 6 (9:45 p.m.) and 7 (7 and 9:30 p.m.). Those run $20-$25. At the time I publish this, there are still tickets available for these shows.

At the Addison Improv, there are two New Year’s Eve shows with tickets available. He has already sold out five earlier shows on Dec. 29 and 30.

The guy is busy. Of course, we will keep an eye out for announcements about Ralph Barbosa’s Netflix special and let you know when we know more. Meanwhile, a clip:
