I can almost hear the collective whining from children around Dallas after receiving the news today. Dallas Arboretum spokeswoman Wendy Rentz, informed me that the children’s garden at the arboretum won’t be open this May, as was originally planned.

Rentz says, “Construction of the new Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden is moving along nicely but we have postponed our opening date because of the rain.”

Although this year’s rainy season has been fairly mild, Rentz adds that, “Construction crews must wait until the grounds are dry for safety purposes” and “the arboretum does not want to rush the construction and open a garden that doesn’t match up with the initial vision.”

The new proposed opening will be sometime this fall, when folks are in town after summer break and Texas temperatures are more pleasant (bearable) for arboretum visitors.
