I’m studying Italian right now in preparation for a trip to Rome this summer. I feel like my brain is already hardwired for the language because I’m fluent in Spanish, which is so similar. I listen to my Italian CDs every morning during my commute, and I must admit, it’s a beautiful language — it rolls right off the tongue. But that’s caused me to wonder what English sounds like to people who don’t speak it. I’ve found my answer, sort of. After the jump you’ll find a music video created by an Italian singer back in the 70s. The song is complete gibberish, but it’s supposed to sound like English. It’s pretty dang catchy, too, plus the production quality is impressive. The craziest part? It really does sounds a lot like English — so much so, that I noticed my brain trying to pick out phrases, recognizing some the speech patterns, I suppose.  Give it a listen, I think you’ll agree.
