Kyle Richardson arrived at Woodrow Wilson High School at the start of the 2011-12 school year, faced with “a school deemed ‘Unacceptable’ by the Texas Education Agency, an enormous renovation and construction project, and just a couple of weeks to prepare for the school year,” according to a profile piece we published at the end of that year.
Richardson is now nearing the end of his fifth year at the school, and during his tenure has “led Woodrow Wilson High School from a low-performing campus to the highest-performing comprehensive high school in Dallas,” wrote Tracie Fraley, the Woodrow feeder pattern’s executive director, in a letter announcing Richardson’s retirement at the end of the spring. Fraley also noted that this year, Woodrow posted its best achievement scores in the school’s history with seven distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.
Fraley notes that though Richardson’s retirement is “a huge loss for Dallas ISD, I know you join me in wishing him only the best in this new phase of life.” The specific steps and timelines of the search for a new Woodrow principal will be shared in the coming days and weeks.
