Principal positions in East Dallas are taking shape as the school year approaches. Lipscomb Elementary lost its principal after just one year when Daisy Briones left to be an assistant principal at Aikin Elementary with Roxanne Cheek, who left Woodrow after one year at the helm. Cheek led Lipscomb for five years and will be reunited with Briones in Richardson ISD as part of a slew of Dallas ISD leaders heading north.

Dr. Michael Sandoval will replace Briones at Lipscomb. He has been a principal for 14 years and in education for 23 years, often working in bilingual environments, according to a letter to the community. “I get paid to be a principal, but I am really a teacher. I love to help people grow, and try to make a difference in the lives of others each day,” he wrote in a message to the community.

At Mount Auburn Elementary, Susan Hernandez left after one year as well. She followed Michelle Hill, who was principal at Stonewall Jackson for two years before leading Mount Auburn for two years.

Bridget Fowler will be the new principal at Mount Auburn, coming from Rhoads Learning Center near Lincoln High School. Fowler’s hire continues the trend of rotating principals in East Dallas, as she led Lee Elementary from 2014-2016 before her time at Rhoads.
