The pop-up will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at Tietze park.

Shop local vendors like A Model Patient, a nonprofit that bestows gifts to breast cancer patients. Other businesses include floral design company En Fleur Dallas and custom jeweler JL Parish Designs. Vendors can sign up until April 20 by emailing Carrie Youngberg at youngberg@verizon.net or Tara Rasheta at taradarbyrasheta@gmail.com.

Youngberg and Rasheta organized their first pop-up in Youngberg’s home in 2019 to raise money for Rasheta’s nonprofit, A Model Patient. Like most events in 2020, the second iteration had to be modified because of the pandemic. In November, the ladies hosted an outdoor event featuring about 30 neighborhood vendors. It was such a financial success for the businesses that the owners asked Youngberg and Rasheta to organize another.

The pair partnered with the Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association to make this month’s event bigger and better. In addition to vendors, there will be a volleyball court and Camp Gladiator obstacle course for children. Kids can also make arts and crafts that will be taken to residents at Juliette Fowler Communities.

When neighbors get hungry, they can snack on shave ice from the Kona Ice truck. The pop-up will also collect nonperishable goods for the North Texas Food Bank. The food bank needs peanut butter, low-sodium canned fruit and vegetables, canned tuna and chicken and whole-grain rice and pasta.

“It started as a way to help a charity we believe in and ballooned into a way to help our neighbors,” Youngberg said. “It made sense to do it bigger and help local vendors. We thought they could use the help.”
