Dallas police are targeting the city’s violent neighborhoods with a new plan to reduce crime and prevent gun violence, CBS affiliate Channel 11 reports. DPD will saturate seven ZIP codes with patrol officers, including 75204 and 75228 in East Dallas.

Officers there will increase traffic stops and pedestrian stops, authorities said.

The effort follows record-setting crime levels throughout Dallas in 2020. DPD logged its 200th homicide Nov. 1. A violent weekend in mid-November left 7 dead and multiple people injured after 13 shootings.

DPD will target other problematic areas, including 75243, 75215, 75224, 75237 and 75216.
