The corner of Abrams and Northwest Highway has been a dismal sight for some time. But the location of the old Steakley Chevrolet dealership is now just a slab of concrete as demolition crews have cleared the property to make room for a 275,000-square-foot High Point Crossing shopping center, according to a story posted to the Dallas Morning News this morning.

Houston-based developer Ainbinder Co. bought the 13-acre site last year.

Early designs of the proposed market show a two-level shopping center with room for around 12 storefronts and street-level parking.

According to the DMN, “The stores will be located in a central complex and in two freestanding buildings along Northwest Highway. That makes High Point Crossing one of the largest new shopping centers in the works in Dallas.”

Jeff Kittleson, senior vice president of the commercial real estate firm CBRE/UCR, says in the story that construction could start next year.

Calls have been made to the developer, but have not yet been returned. We will have more on this story as it develops.
