In 2007, Advocate photographer Can Turkyilmaz, whom we at the Advocate affectionately call Turk, photographed Mark Ridlen (aka Dj Deluxe), who has been spinning all over Dallas since he first began his career at the legendary Starck Club in 1984. Thousands danced to Ridlen’s tunes … including, apparently, Turk’s wife.
“I was editing his photos on my computer at home. My wife leaned over my shoulder and recognized him as the DJ at her first wedding reception at the Hall of State!” he recalls.
Small world.
