Art is underway in Lakewood at Gaston-Garland-Grand.

Two Dallas women, Eva Brandys and Ewa (also pronounced “Eva”) Korzeniowska, opened the Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts earlier this month in a space tucked away behind the three-way intersection, right next door to Cane Rosso White Rock and On Rotation, and this weekend they hosted the official grand opening.

“[Korzeniowska] put this seed in me, and I always wanted to do like a university-type, a conservatory-type program where all the arts are combined,” Brandys explains. “It’s the three basic — visual, music and dance — and they can all collaborate together. I thought it would be amazing to start it at a young age, so children can get used to that before they start college.”

Right now Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts offers a range of music lessons to children from ages 4 months to 18 years, dance classes for children from 18 months to 18 years, and art classes for children ages 18 months to 18 years.

Eventually Brandys and Korzeniowska hope to expand the program to include acting lessons for children, art, music and dance lessons for adults and possibly even cooking or sewing classes.

Brandys is a Poland native with a masters of music in music education and piano pedagogy from Southern Methodist University and a bachelors in piano performance from Dallas Baptist University.

With more than two decades of experience as a piano instructor in both private and group settings, she founded Park Cities School of Music in Dallas in 2010, and although her background is in music, she is now teaming up with Korzeniowska to bring a full range of fine arts to East Dallas, where Korzeniowska lives.

Korzeniowska, the director and co-founder of Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts, is also a Poland native and a painter who spent at her childhood at her grandparent’s music school, building on her family heritage of opera singers, pianists, guitarists and violinists.

The school is located in Lakeview Center at 7328 Gaston, suite 130. Learn more on the website and Facebook page or by calling 214.856.8731.
