Update (12/10): A co-owner of Parlor’s Handcrafted Ice Creams confirmed with The Advocate they are planning to open at Hillside Village.
Parlor’s Handcrafted Ice Creams is looking to open a store in our neighborhood.
The ice cream business is owned by husband-and-wife duo Kellie and Brandon Stoll. They met as students at SMU and both graduated in 2016. The Stolls started the company in 2019 and were married last month.
They usually sell their desserts at pop-ups at places like the Dallas Arboretum and the Dallas Farmers Market. Plus, they cater events.
Now, they may have an opportunity to serve customers at their own storefront. Parlor’s applied for a certificate of occupancy at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane in Hillside Village Shopping Center earlier this week. It’s currently in review. And an application for a permit to finish out an interior remodel was submitted.
Parlor’s also has a website, and it says a scoop shop — along with hours and a phone number — is coming soon.
Parlor’s prides itself on its use of quality ingredients. Pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed milk from local farms, cream and sugar form the base of its recipes, while mix-ins and flavors are either bought from local businesses or made from scratch. Chocolate and cocoa nibs come from Oak Cliff’s 5 Mile Chocolate, for example. And coffee is sourced from Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters.
All of the ingredients are either organic or come from businesses that support sustainable practices.
The menu offers some classics like chocolate chunk, milk and cookies, French vanilla bean and mint chip. And there are seasonal flavors; in the past, those have included gingerbread, sweet peach and apple pie.
Right now, they’re serving “Rocky Rudolph,” chocolate spiked with peppermint, house-made marshmallows and pieces of house-made chocolate cookie sandwiches, and eggnog, described as “creamy and spiced with just a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. The name isn’t all that is seems – don’t nog it ’till you try it!”
Parlor’s Handcrafted Ice Creams will be at the Arboretum’s Holiday Vendor Market, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
