The Nashville hot chicken craze is still heating up in East Dallas. Although two other spicy chicken restaurants opened in the neighborhood earlier this year, another player plans to join the scene.

Palmer’s Hot Chicken will open this summer in the Hillside Village shopping center, 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane. An exact date has not been released.

Texas native Palmer Fortune created the chicken recipes and fast-casual concept while living in Nashville, so you know you’re getting the real deal.

“I didn’t want to create my tweak of Nashville hot chicken,” Fortune said. “This is actually the real deal. All the credit goes to Nashville.”

The star of the menu is, of course, the chicken with four levels of spice: naked, novice, Nashville and Napalm. Diners can also dig in to catfish, wraps and salads. Everything from desserts to signature sides — such as pimento cheese grits, greens and mac and cheese — are made in house.

Guests can enjoy their meal in a rustic interior decorated with reclaimed wood and exposed bricks. A 1,400-square-foot covered patio with yard games will also provide year-round seating with fans in the summer and heaters in the winter.

Palmer’s will offer curbside pickup and delivery on most delivery services.

The restaurant is entering a crowded market. In January, Lucky’s Hot Chicken announced it was opening in a retro historic building that was once Brinks Coffee Shop & Restaurant. It was supposed to debut in early 2020, but work is coming along on the building at 4505 Gaston Ave.

Then, in April, Chirps Chicken took over the former LG Taps space at 3619 Greenville Ave. after the bar had to close because of the coronavirus.

Try all three — just not at once, unless you want to miss out on these mouth-watering flavors because of burned taste buds.
