If you’re a sucker for true life storytelling, you’ll be in good company at Oral Fixation‘s tale-telling events, which were created by neighbor Nicole Stewart as an outlet for her “obsession with true life tales.”
If you’ve never been to one of the events, Oral Fixation is halfway through season four and kicking off 2015 with the theme “Slippery Slope” on Monday, Jan. 19. at the Wyly Studio  Theatre and on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff, both at 8 p.m.
Join seven Dallasites as they reveal “juicy details on times in their lives when things slipped out of their control,” Stewart explains. Participants include Monic Reynoso, whose tragic car accident at age 19 left her paralyzed from the chest down; Robert Schmidt, who shares how a passion for strippers led him to a life of adultery; Amanda Rodenborg reveals how ignorance quickly turned into oppressive credit card debt; Jay Peeples divulges his first time meeting the opposition in Saudi Arabia, and Donny Hornstein tells how anger once dominated his life.
Coming up in February, storytellers are already prepping for “Two Peas in a Pod” on Feb. 9, followed by “Writing on the Wall” on March 16 and “Happy Camper” on April 20. Shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. To learn more, watch this YouTube video or go to the Oral Fixation website. If you would like to participate, you can submit your stories here.
