This Thursday, enjoy the Chad Cooke Band, a 70s rock-infused country band, at the Granada Theater. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $10.

Head to the Pocket Sandwich Theater this Friday to enjoy “Captain Blood,” a pirate melodrama. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets cost $12.

The 22nd annual Mayor’s Back to School Fair is Friday, August 3 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Centennial Building at Fair Park in Dallas. The free event provides school supplies and other back-to-school necessities. Families must register on‑site at the Fair to receive free school supplies.

If you are soon to be married, head the arboretum this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. for a cooking class by Gil’s Elegant Catering. The class is called “Stirring the Pot Before Tying the Knot,” will be hands-on and be taught in small groups. It costs $65. 

The Creative Arts Center of Dallas opens its Annual Juried Membership Show this Saturday through Saturday, September 1st at Mary Tomás Gallery in the Design District. The show includes works of sculpture, jewelry, drawing, painting, photography and ceramics. There will be a reception on Saturday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
