The victims told officers they were getting out of their SUV when a group of armed individuals showed them their weapons and demanded property. The carjackers then took the vehicle and drove away.

Authorities spotted the SUV on West Kiest Boulevard about an hour after the carjacking. The driver fled a traffic stop and led police on a chase through mostly residential areas, according to the Morning News.

The newspaper reported that the vehicle made multiple turns and drove in the wrong direction in an effort to evade pursuers. The driver tried to ram police vehicles at least twice, and passengers threw objects out the window.

The chase stopped in a dead end in the 1000 block of North Tatum Avenue in Oak Cliff.

No injuries were reported.
