VRRROOM…

Check out dozens of vintage vehicles with “engines so clean you could eat off them” (not that we’re suggesting you try it) during a Boulevard Knights classic car show Oct. 25 at Coach’s Grill, LBJ and Northwest Highway.

Coach’s co-owner Donna Liebbe says the last show featured about 50 cars from the ’50, ‘60s and ‘70s. Entry fee for car owners is $5, but it’s free to attend. The show will be from 5:30-9 p.m. Call 972-271-2465 for more information.

Coach’s patrons also are invited to move to the music from 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturdays at a rock and roll party featuring DJ Biff, formerly of Studebakers, or to take the mike during karaoke nights from 8:30 p.m.-midnight Fridays (where Coach’s co-owner Bill Liebbe usually can be found leading the way with his own special version of “Mack the Knife”).

CELEBRATIONS…

Jennivine Restaurant, 3605 McKinney, will celebrate its 20-year anniversary the week of Oct. 6 by offering its specialty pate and cheese dishes at 1977 prices, along with complimentary glasses of house wine.

“It’s hard work, that’s what I’ve learned,” says general manager Chris Edwards of his 20 years in the restaurant trade. “But it’s a great business. I love it. My wife disagrees, but that’s the way things are.”

A new addition to Jennivine is the inclusion of a four-course Sunday brunch with champagne, available 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Call 214-528-6010 for information.

Also marking anniversaries this month are ST Café, 9090 Skillman (seven years), and Taj Mahal, 10455 N. Central Expressway (15 years).

LE JAZZ HOT…

Live jazz in an intimate setting is what you’ll find after 10 p.m. Thursdays at spicy-cuisine specialist Firehouse, 1928 Greenville. No cover charge. Jazz nights started a month ago with performances by local groups such as the Enablers, Arthur Riddles Trio, the Jazz Nomads and Daddy’s Chair. Firehouse rep Norma Tamez says the shows began as “a little tester, and we got big crowds. It just complements the place so well.” Call 214-826-2468 for information.

A nearby haunt with live music is the Billiard Bar, 1920 Greenville, which features Elvis T. Busboy and special guest R&B performers Wednesdays at 10 p.m. Call 214-826-6665 for information.
