NothingBundtCakes1The Nothing Bundt CakesĀ in Casa Linda Plaza is “finally open,” as bakery manager Sherry Campbell put it. She couldn’t stop smiling this morning when I dropped in to say hi. She seemed pretty thrilled. But then, who wouldn’t be thrilled to be surrounded by cakes all day?

To kick off their grand opening, they’re hosting a benefit day all day today. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 20 percent of their proceeds will benefit White Rock Center of Hope, which provides emergency aid and steps toward self-sufficiency to the neighborhood.

NothingBundtCakes2Then tomorrow, they’ll continue the celebration by giving away lots of sugary treats, which, in my humble opinion, is the best way to celebrate. Starting at 10 a.m., the first 50 customers with purchase will receive a card for a free bundtlet once a month for 12 months. Also on Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m., they’re hosting a Cake-A-Palooza featuring an abundance of cake samples, plus a glitter tattoo artist for the kids from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

And then next week, on Wednesday, June 5, the official Ribbon Cutting with the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce is at noon.

NothingBundtCakes3Campbell says all of their bundt cakes are made in house every day. They’ve got a plethora of delicious flavors, such as chocolate chocolate chip, pecan praline, white chocolate raspberry, carrot, and — their most popular flavor — red velvet.

The franchise is known for its thick frosting petals that adorn each cake, according to a brochure. It’s definitely one of the first things you notice about the cakes. The frosting is made with pure cream cheese and butter. The cakes themselves are melt-in-your-mouth soft.

The Nothing Bundt Cakes in Casa Linda is at 9440 Garland, right next door to Starbucks. So if a sugar high doesn’t get you going, there’s espresso just a door away.
