The apartments keep coming in East Dallas with news that Trammell Crow Residential has purchased the long-vacant site at 5619 Belmont Ave., with plans to build a 475-unit complex that will break ground this winter, the Dallas Morning News reports. Located at the corner of Greenville Avenue, it will be the largest residential development on the ever-trendier street in recent years.

The site is already zoned for dense residential housing as the former location of Vickery Towers retirement community. Because the developer doesn’t plan to bring an retail options into the purely residential project, no zoning changes will be required for the project. The retirement community built in the 1950s was demolished after the business shut down in 2014.

The Dallas Morning News called Trammell Crow “Dallas’ busiest apartment builder” because of the high volume of complexes it has built or is building in the neighborhood. This includes the 452-unit Alexan Fitzhugh, completed in 2008 at 2707 N Fitzhugh Ave; with another 370-unit complex planned on Fitzhugh at Monarch.

This is just one of several apartment projects in the works in our neighborhood, read up on other proposed developments on Live Oak, on Prospect and on Oram.
