Anyone who’s been in an emergency warranting a call to 911 knows that every minute is precious time. That’s why the new 911 location markers that have just been installed along Katy Trail are such a good idea.
These signs have location numbers on them. If you ever find yourself in trouble, call 911 and give the operator that number. The operator will then be able to look up that number up in the city’s database and locate you with GPS tracking. That means that police and paramedics will know exactly where on the trail you are, which could count for critical response time.
Let’s hope you’re never in the situation to need one of these signs–but it’s a good FYI in case you ever do.
