Update: This story was updated at 3:30 p.m. to correct the intersection. While neighbors said Abrams at Mockingbird, it was actually Mockingbird at Williamson.

If you’ve driven through the Mockingbird/Williamson intersection this week, you likely noticed the fresh new landscaping. Tall cactus and bright yellow and purple flowers add a cheerful addition to the populous roadway, and was a labor of love between a variety of different organizations.
“The triangle garden is a collaboration between the Lakewood Botanical Society, Lakewood Trails Neighborhood Association and Lakewood Neighborhood Association,” says Maggie Saucedo, a Lakewood Trails resident who took part in the planting. “There are plans to install permanent signage to commemorate this collaboration.”
The Lakewood Botanical Society, an area garden club, provided the funds to purchase the 40 drought-tolerant plants along with the other necessities like soil and mulch. Club members helped the Lakewood Trails neighbors in prepping the site last week before a neighborhood planting event took place on Saturday. Moving forward, the Lakewood Neighborhood Association will maintain the triangle garden.
