Neighborhood residents Daniel and Delores Wolfe, attorneys working pro bono, sent a formal petition to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Saturday in an attempt to prevent Far West nightclub from renewing its liquor license.
The formal complaint was filed on behalf of 15 neighborhood organizations, including the Lakewood Hills Neighborhood Association, the Hollywood Santa Monica Neighborhood Association and the Ferguson Road Initiative.
The complaint calls Far West a “mega nightclub” and states: “A vast majority of the club’s patrons simply want to have a good time, but the manner in which the clubs operate has resulted in excessive crime, danger to the surrounding community, behavior which constitutes a nuisance, excessive traffic, excessive noise (e.g. gunshots), and illegal sale of alcohol (both when unlicensed in 2007 and to a minor).”
The complaint requests a hearing with the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
Delores Wolfe says she expects to hear in a couple of months whether the case has been transferred to that court, and then a hearing will be set. Wolfe also sent 750 pages of exhibits along with the 20-page complaint, which you can read in full after the jump.
