A Lakewood mother had a harrowing experience Monday afternoon when a man attempted to break into her car as she sat in the back seat, feeding her infant child.

Carlos Almeida with the Dallas Police media department confirmed that around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, officers responded to an attempted car theft reported in the 2100 block of Kidwell.

“As far of the details of the suspect or the case, I can’t speak to that,” he told the Advocate Tuesday morning, adding that he would pass our message to detective working the case. “He’ll get back to you if he has time.”

The victim posted her account of the incident to the neighborhood social media site Nextdoor Lakewood (sic):

“At about 4:30pm in a parking lot at Prospect /Kidwell a tall African American male, with a mustache and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt attempted to break in to my car and steal it using a glass breaker. He didn’t realize I was in the back seat feeding my infant. I started yelling at him and he got into the car and drove away. The car was an older black mustang, license plate FCF 0790. I called 911 immediately and filed a police report.”

Almeida did confirm that the license plate was actually FCF 0709.

This story will be updated if and when we hear from the detective on the case.
