The Celebration Tree Grove (CTG) on the northeastern edge of the White Rock Lake Park on East Lawther between Poppy Drive and Lake Highlands Drive was initiated by For the Love of the Lake in 2005. It’s been a hugely successful project that involves the community — allowing lake lovers to honor and remember family, friends, pets, etc. while contributing to restoration efforts around the lake. The project has led to the planting of more than 200 trees around Winfrey Point and the CTG, and the upkeep of hundreds more.

Now construction has (just) started on a series of improvements in that same area to include "a new hike and bike pathway in front of the Tree Grove, a stone bridge near the plaza reminiscent of the stone bridge near Stone Tables, four small stone entry monuments where the hike and bike trail meets the Grove walking path, and landscaping and drainage improvements to the area." In combination with the progress over here, this is going to be huge — we are well on our way to seeing a much more user-friendly lake/park. A FTLOTL dedication is set for June 22 at 12:22 p.m. (We’ll remind you as the date approaches.)
