Perhaps Councilman Sheffie Kadane knew what he was getting into when he decided to run for the city council, but if he didn’t, he’s certainly learning quickly that being a public servant involves taking some heat from time to time.
The Maplewood Overlay (see earlier blog post for background) has certainly proven to be one of those issues. Just look at the number of comments, and the tenor of many of them, and you’ll get a little bit of the feeling Sheffie has probably been feeling on this one. But Pete Oppel, former director of the Dallas Northeast Chamber, offers Sheffie’s perspective in an interesting post on his blog, and it’s worth a look to see what he says and hear where what he was trying to accomplish.
