If you haven’t heard about Misti Norris or her nationally recognized restaurant, Petra and the Beast, then here is a refresher on the award-winning Dallas chef and her amazing restaurant. Norris is known for her environmentally friendly approach to cooking and creating good, unpretentious food for the neighborhood. It is her ingenuity, penchant for experimentation and boldness in the kitchen that makes her one of the best rising chefs in the country. And it’s not just us who think this either.

Food & Wine revealed its list of best new chefs online in April. Although we have known of her accolades since then, it is an entirely different experience to see her on the cover. The print magazine allows us to truly see our neighbor’s accomplishments in glossy pages and stylized photos. Norris is featured on the inside, with her tattoos and nose piercings, intently focused on a recipe that is sure to make your mouth water.

And if her menu is not enough to inspire you to take a trip down to her restaurant, then read her feature in the magazine. Restaurant editor Jordana Rothman writes, “At Petra something extremely rare is unfolding: the chance to see a chef who is utterly free and also entirely in bloom.” The sentiment is both beautiful and entirely true.
