The last day will be Sept. 22, the owners said in a Facebook post.

“We have been humbled to serve and meet the generations of families that have walked into our restaurant,” they said. “We hope you all stop by for a final visit or two to enjoy our food and help bid our little diner farewell. Thank you from the bottom of our Greek hearts!”

Neighbors speculated that the diner at 2026 Greenville Ave. might close when the building was listed for rent in April. The eatery is still listed as available, but CultureMap reported that it has been leased.

The Greek brothers who own Char Bar told the publication they are being forced to leave and their request for a lease extension was denied.

Char Bar opened in 1973 before Greenville Avenue became a foodie destination with some of the best bars and restaurants in Dallas. Customers loved the eatery for its affordable breakfasts and burgers in the quaint and charming house.
