If you look closely you’ll see Melba’s right front leg is a little “wonky.” Because of her imperfect leg, the breeder wanted her destroyed. Luckily, Melba was brought to DFW Rescue Me instead. The puppy was seen by an orthopedic veterinary specialist who believes that she sustained a trauma, possibly during birth. Melba’s young bones are like cartilage so surgery isn’t currently an option. Because Melba is using her leg and not in pain, the doctor isn’t sure she will ever need surgery.

Melba is a special beauty and her adopter will need to understand the commitment she may need as she grows older. However, the payoff will be years of unconditional love and loyalty. Those interested in giving Melba a permanent home can fill out an adoption application here.

DFW Rescue Me coordinates with potential adopters to arrange a home visit / play date in which you will have time to ensure a good match for everyone. DFW Rescue Me is a 501(c)3 all volunteer non-profit organization.  The $250 tax-deductible adoption fee covers medical expenses, including vaccinations, rabies, spay and microchip.
