Our Jeff Siegel just reminisced about Matt Martinez, the beloved restaurateur we lost to cancer last Friday. Today, I received an image of the Tex-Mex king I just had to share:
Advocate food photographer Mark Davis sent over this photo illustration [see it after the jump] he worked on for Matt Martinez’ last cookbook.
Says the photog, “The concept was simple — if there’s a patio in Heaven, then this is exactly how it would be. Everyone already knows that Tex Mex food is served there, but now Heaven finally has a great patio as well.” Yet while the concept was simple, getting Matt to put on an angel outfit and stand in front of a crowd was not," Mark tells us. “Advance notice was out of the question, only total surprise would work. This left no time for argument … rest in peace, my friend. And save me a seat on the patio.”
