You don’t have to live in a galaxy far, far away to eat like Luke Skywalker.

In a commercial for Uber Eats, the Jedi himself, Mark Hamill, orders Nashville hot tofu tacos from Velvet Taco in Knox-Henderson.

“Rumor has it that when in Dallas, Mark Hamill (a known vegetarian) visited Velvet Taco and had some of our vegetarian tacos,” said Clay Dover, CEO, president and taco maker at Velvet Taco. “The Jedi Master was so impressed that when Uber asked where his favorite restaurant in Dallas was — he wanted to order from Velvet Taco…so the lore goes. We were more than happy to participate and delivered some Nashville tofu tacos ASAP!”

Hamill films the “Tonight I’ll be Eating…” ads with Sir Patrick Stewart, who played Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek.” The commercials show the two sci-fi heroes facing off in a series of games. In the Velvet Taco spot, Stewart beats Hamill in air hockey. In another ad, Hamill emerges as the victor in Connect Four.

Velvet Taco isn’t the first neighborhood restaurant to snag a celebrity endorsement on an Uber Eats commercial. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles gave Cane Rosso in White Rock a shoutout in her ad series with “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness.

We sent an email to Ken Brendemihl, senior vice president of operations at Velvet Taco, requesting more information. He has not yet responded.
