It will be the first Texas location of the chain based in Southern California, which was founded in Tokyo 70 years ago as Manpuku Japanese Yakiniku Grill.

Diners may order a la carte items or an Omakase-style meal for two or four people, which includes meats, salads and soft serve for $40-$100 per person, depending on the protein selection. Handmade sauces such as soy, miso and sesame oil are served with all dishes, which are cooked tableside over small grills.

Manpuku offers three signature dishes: negi shio yakiniku, which was created at the first Manpuku in Tokyo and contains sliced beef topped with garlic, sesame oil, green onions, sesame seeds and seasoning; yakiniku-style sukiyaki, rice wrapped inside Kobe beef and topped with egg yolk; and yaki-shabu, vegetables wrapped in Kobe beef and finished with a oroshi ponzu sauce.

Manpuku is located at 2023 Greenville Ave near Trader Joe’s. It offers indoor and patio seating and can accommodate around 100 diners.

Reservations are recommended and can be made on Open Table starting June 29. Anyone who dines at the restaurant June 29-July 5 will receive a $20 gift card that can be used on a later visit.
