Francisco Alcarez was shot at about 10 p.m., statesĀ a scant police report. Store manager Carmen Fort said the incident was “random.”

“It looked like a case of road rage,” Fort says. “The two guys ended up driving into the lot at around 10 p.m. One of the guys got out of the vehicle and shot the other three times.”

The suspect was taken into custody immediately after the shooting by an officer at Whole Foods.Ā “Whole Foods, we employ off-duty Dallas police, and we always have, so we did have an off-duty officer at the time the incident happened,” Fort says.

It is unclear where Alcarez was injured, only that the shots caused “serious bodily injury,” according to the police report. Fort says Alcarez was taken to the hospital after the incident.

The shooting occurred on the Abrams side of the parking lot at the same time that Whole Foods was closing, so the parking lot was very empty. “We secured the building. Nobody was allowed to leave or go in until everything was safe,” Fort says.
