Glen Richter, 51, pleaded guilty to slaying Sara Hudson. Hudson’s body was found Aug. 19, 2019, in the 5600 block of Alta Avenue. Police say Hudson was on her way to her 22nd birthday party on Lower Greenville when Richter carjacked her at gunpoint and forced her to drive to an ATM for $700. He sexually assaulted her and shot her twice before setting her Chevrolet Tahoe on fire.

Richter was originally charged with capital murder and could have faced the death penalty if the case had gone to trial. Hudson’s family accepted a plea deal, and Richter will serve 30 years in prison before he is eligible for parole, according to the Morning News.

“Justice was done today, and we’ve ensured our goal that he won’t harm anyone in the future,” prosecutor Jason Fine said in a statement.

At the time of her death, Hudson had just graduated from the University of Arkansas and had started a job as a logistics sales account executive at the transportation company Schneider.

Authorities identified Richter from fingerprints found on Hudson’s vehicle. His shoes had Hudson’s blood on them, and police found guns, ammunition, lighter fluid and a lighter in his car, the Morning News reported.
