Lunches listening to live piano music while dining on chopped steak and mashed potatoes with white or brown gravy are gone for our neighborhood.

Luby’s closed its last remaining store here, among 95 Luby’s and Fuddruckers locations that are closing temporarily while the Houston-based company searches for a buyer for all its assets and brands, which also includes Cheeseburger in Paradise Bar and Grill.

The one on Mockingbird Lane is closed, but there are still Luby’s open in Desoto and Fort Worth. There used to be a Luby’s in Casa View that closed more than 20 years ago.

Dallas also lost the 95-year-old Highland Park Cafeteria in May.
