The raffle is part of the fifth-annual Lowest G Cools Off Big D. Anyone who donates at least $20 will be entered to win a bundle of gift cards and prizes worth more than $350, given by the Lowest Greenville Collective businesses.

Donations, which will go to Dallas County Adult Protective Services, should be made Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the table outside Greenville Avenue Pizza Company at 1923 Greenville Ave.

Molly Mandell co-owns the pizza place with her husband, Sammy, and together they started Lowest Greenville Collective. Sammy was inspired to begin the fundraising event after visiting a similar benefit hosted by a radio station in Austin.

Over the years, proceeds from Lowest G Cools Off Big D have gone toward purchasing hundreds of portable fans and window units, and thousands of dollars have been donated to Dallas County APS, which provides air conditioning to Dallas’ seniors who live without it, even during the hottest months of the year.

“We feel that this event is even more important in the post-Covid world for older members of the community that have already had a tough, isolated year,” Molly Mandell says in an email to the Advocate.

In addition to the raffle, many Lowest Greenville businesses are offering specials. Truck Yard is having a $5 frozen drink special, HG Sply Co. is selling $5 mules, and Bella & Brawn is having a 20 percent special discount. Learn more about the discounts and the prize pack in the photo below.
