Animal Rescue Group
In response to finding an overwhelming amount of homeless and abandoned dogs wandering around their White Rock Lake neighborhood, Flag Pole Hill residents Clay and Lillia Hollis launched White Rock Dog Rescue to help promote animals available for adoption, provide access to low cost vetting, and offer training and fostering resources. DFW Rescue Me coordinates with potential adopters to arrange a home visit where volunteers share helpful information on responsible pet ownership. Volunteers will also assist with introductions to current four-legged family members to ensure that adopting a new pet will be a good fit for everyone. DFW Rescue Me is a 501(c)3 all volunteer non-profit organization. Their $200 tax-deductible adoption fee covers medical expenses. Animal Allies of Texas is a non-profit animal advocacy/rescue group that is dedicated to improving community life for animals and people alike. Animal Allies provides medical treatment to rescue dogs by partnering with veterinarians, including local veterinarians at Metro Paws Animal Hospital. Several Lakewood residents also volunteer to provide foster homes for rescued animals until they are adopted. Early in 2013 Animal Allies opened up a storefront in the Casa Linda Plaza for adoption events and low cost veterinary services.
