Local chefs to raise money for MS at Burger Fight

On May 25, chefs from around Dallas will head to the Dallas Youth Sports (It’s inside, don’t worry) in Oak Cliff to cook up some serious sliders as part of the third annual Burger Fight. The event is organized by Meat Fight Inc, a DFW-based nonprofit organization that leverages culinary competitions featuring high-profile area chefs to raise money for MS support and research. 

Participating restaurants and chefs will compete for the prize of Best Burger with an array of inventive sliders. This year’s lineup includes Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House on Peavy Road, east of White Rock Lake; Goodwins in Lower Greenville; Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar, which has a location on Haskell Avenue near Old East Dallas; and Culpepper Cattle Company on Elm Street in Deep Ellum, among other eateries.

Luckily for attendees, the competition isn’t just a spectator sport. With the price of admission ($50 for general admission, $75 for VIP), attendees can try a slider from each of the 11 participating restaurants. 

Beverages are also included in the price of admission, with neighborhood breweries like Vector Brewing, Oak Highlands Brewery and Lakewood Brewing set to bring an assortment of local beers.

As if there wasn’t enough neighborhood influence already, Haute Sweets Patisserie and La Casita Bakeshop (opened La Casita Coffee in Half Price Books this fall) will both supply a build-it-yourself sundae station.

The event runs from 12:30-3 p.m, with VIP access starting at noon. VIPs will have access to a designated beer station and snack table. Attendees must be 21 years old or above. Information on Meat Fight and its efforts to combat MS can be found here.
